Safe way to school

Our school has a wide commuter belt within the Rhein-Main area. Accordingly, the use of different means of transportation to get to us is very diverse. We want our students to have a safe way to school.

Way to school to City Campus

In order to further develop school mobility at our two locations in a targeted manner and to promote alternative forms of mobility (e.g. public transport, cycling, walking), we participated in the “Better to School” project supported by the State of Hesse in 2019/2020 and worked with experts and authorities to develop two comprehensive school mobility plans.

For all students who come to us from the immediate vicinity of the Campus Frankfurt City or by public transport, a school route plan is available. It shows the safest routes to school and danger spots in the immediate vicinity of our school. Please discuss with your child before starting school how to get to school safely. The footpaths from the surrounding subway stations Holzhausenstraße und Glauburgstraße are also listed here: School route map City Campus (PDF)

Public transport

The City Campus in the middle of the Holzhausenviertel is easily accessible by public transport within Frankfurt. As our school has no parking space and is located in a residential street, we strongly recommend that you use bus and train. There are various connections available:

Stop Public transport Walking distance to school
Holzhausenstraße U-Bahnen U2, U3, U8 600 m (7 min)
Glauburgstraße U-Bahn U5 400 m (6 min)
Adlerfychtplatz Bus 36 300 m (4 min)

Please note that Holzhausenpark is unfortunately not sufficiently illuminated during the dark season. We therefore recommend that several students join together to form school route communities.

For all further details about public transport and the exact route to your home address, please ask on the RMV website https://www.rmv.de or RMV timetable information

Please contact our Front Office if you have any questions (T +49 69 173 92 550).

To the City Campus by bike

For an exact planning of the school way with the wheel the “Schülerradroutenplaner” (https://www.schuelerradrouten.de/) of the working group Nahmobilität in Hessen offers itself. Here you can enter your starting point and destination and the planner shows safe school routes for cyclists. The student bike route planner is also available as an app.

Unfortunately, there are currently no dedicated bicycle parking spaces at our school. It is possible to switch to public bicycle parking spaces. Many cyclists currently connect their bikes to the fences and signs near the school entrance. We are working on a permanent solution.

Phorms school bus from Frankfurt to Steinbach

The Phorms-owned charter school bus, which is subject to a charge, is only available for school transport from Frankfurt to our Taunus Campus in Steinbach before the start of lessons (8 am) / after the end of lessons (4 pm). During the school day, the bus will transport individual school classes from the City Campus to sports and swimming lessons at the Taunus Campus and back. There is no school transport within Frankfurt.

Individual shuttles

If you are not yet satisfied with the means of transport offered so far, but would still like an alternative to the “parent taxi”, you can also book individual transport directly with minibus companies. You can also join forces with other parents in the same place of residence. We have been working together with the provider Kleinbus Reich in Oberursel-Weißkirchen for years. For your individual request please use the website of the provider:

www.kleinbus-reich.de

By car

We would like to reduce individual traffic by car to a minimum. For one thing, it is healthier for our students to walk or cycle to school. On the other hand, it increases their self-confidence to make the daily trip to school on their own. By reducing car traffic, we minimise both Co2 emissions and the risk of accidents caused by starting and stopping vehicles in the immediate vicinity of the school.

We are currently in talks with the City of Frankfurt about the installation of a parents’ bus stop, which is to be installed at a suitable location away from the school. From there, a healthy short walk can mean the right start to the school day. Unfortunately, no final decision has yet been made on this. We will inform you as soon as there are new decisions.

In the meantime, we ask all parents to follow the procedure laid down in the Parents’ Manual. Only children from the lowest grades (Reception and 1st grade) should be brought directly to school. All others are asked to be dropped off in the area of the Oeder Weg as long as the new parents’ stop has not yet been built.
